The reorientational and vibrational correlation functions were determined for the νs(CN) and sym-νs(Si(CH3)3 vibrations of liquid trimethylsilane carbonitrile from Raman bandshape studies. The reorientation of the molecules is discussed in terms of the J-diffusion model, and the vibrational relaxation in terms of Rothschild's and Oxtoby's models of vibrational dephasing.
