Absorption spectra of single crystals of K3[Nd(NTA)2(H2O)] · 5H2O and (C2N2H10) [Nd2(α-picolinate)8] · 6H2O were measured. The results are analysed in terms of Judd-Ofelt theory. The role of dynamic (polarization) mechanism contribution to the oscillator strengths is discussed.
