Absorption spectra of single crystals of two holmium complexes, K3[Ho(NTA)2(H2O] · 5H2O (I) and enH2+2 · [Ho2(α-picolinate)8] · 6H2O (II), are analysed it terms of Judd-Ofelt theory. The results are compared to those of analogous isomporphous neodymium compounds.
