Quantification of active ingredients in pharmaceutical suspensions by FT Raman spectroscopy.

A method for quantitative determination of nifuroxazide, acetaminophen, ibuprofen and naproxen in commercial oral suspensions containing active compounds in the 1.7–4.0% (w/w) range is described. Partial least squares regression and counter-propagation artificial neural network models were built and validated. The lowest relative standard error of prediction values was found for the strongest scattering nifuroxazide suspensions. Commercial suspensions were quantified with recovery in the 99.3–101.2% and the 98.2–100.2% range, applying partial least squares and artificial neural network modeling techniques, respectively.
