Single crystals of (CH3NH3)5Bi2Br11 were studied by means of X-ray diffraction, dielectric and calorimetric methods. They are orthorhombic at 290 K with most probable space group Pca21. The crystals show below 312 K ferroelectric properties down to at least 120 K. The phase transition at 312 K is of second order with a high peak of ε′c equal to 5−103. Calorimetric studies indicate a complex behaviour of crystals suggesting the existence of a metastable phase below Tc .
