A trinuclear nickel complex {[Ni3(HAmTrz)6·6H2O]·2H2O·6NO3]}n 1 has been synthesized under hydrothermal condition and characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography, elemental analysis, IR, and TG/DTA. Nitrate anions of the crystal lattice are found to play an important role in the molecular self-assembly of [Ni3(HAmTrz)6.6H2O]6+ cationic building block into an overall three-dimensional network of 1 involving variety of homomeric and heteromeric , , supramolecular synthons. Furthermore, the material exhibits magnetic interaction of the Ni(II) centers existing in the whole trimeric building block.
