The violet-red complex NH4UCl4·4H2O was synthesized and its crystal structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The uranium(III) cation is coordinated by four chloride ions and four water molecules. The crystal is build up from eight coordinated U+3 polyhedrons, which are connected together by OH3.Cl hydrogen bonds forming a three-dimensional network.
