The object of the present invention is a photonic layer with a sol-gel structure containing a matrix doped with nanoparticles of lanthanide phosphates and a method for obtaining the photonic layer with the sol-gel structure doped with nanoparticles of lanthanide phosphates, characterised in that it comprises a step in which alkoxysilane is hydrolysed and silanol or alkoxysilane is condensed, lanthanide nanophosphates are prepared in situ and a durable photonic layer is prepared.
