Linear and circular birefringence, its dispersion, dichroic effects, powder SHG efficiency were measured for the Ph4ACB and PMABB crystals. Two phase transitions were observed for the PMACB crystal whereas the low temperature phase transition in the PMABB crystal had not been noticed. Critical indices were determined for the ferroelectric phase transitions.
