Thevibrationalprop ertiesofneatliquidN-methylpyrrolewereinvestigated.Quantitativenear-infraredandmid-infraredsp ectrarecordingsincludingthinlmMIRtransmissionstudieswerep erformed.BasingonthesedatatheopticalconstantsofN-methylpyrroleinthe12500560cm−1regionweredetermined.Theexp erimentwassupp ortedbyananharmonicanalysisbasedonMöllerPlessetp erturbationtheoryanddensityfunctionaltheoryleveloftheory,includingthehybridB2PLYPfunctional.Assignmentsofnumerousbandsobservedintheliquidphasewereprop osedbasingonp otentialenergydistributioncalculationsandacomparisonofexp erimentalandsimulatedsp ectrawaspresented.Theinaccuracyofstaticcalculationsintherepro ductionofexp erimentalsp ectrumintheCHstretchingregionhasb eenobservedandexplainedbytherotationofmethylgroup.Avibrationalsp ectrumwasthereforecalculatedbytheuseofCarParinellomoleculardynamicsmetho dforab ettersimulationofexp erimentalsp ectrum.
