The conformation for 1:1 and 1:2 Pd(II)-Gly-Tyr complexes has been established with the 1H NMR method. A correlation between ΔνAB of the AB glycine proton spectrum and the side-chain bulk of the bidentate Gly-Aspa, Gly-Glua and Gly-Tyr complexes with Pd(II) has been found. This relation corresponds to a lowering of the symmetry of the EPR spectra in the same series of dipeptide complexes with Cu(II). Both results suggest that the symmetry lowering of the glycine NMR spectra and the Cu(II) EPR spectra are of the same origin, and that the influence of the side-chains is through the amine nitrogen on the metal ion and the glycine protons.
